Testimonials From Articling Students |

I was first introduced to Soloway Wright through a law school course which was being taught by members of the firm. I was impressed by the instructors' depth of knowledge, their interaction with the class, and the apparent camraderie between the instructors. My career at Soloways began a few months later as a summer student, and I've been with the firm ever since.

| Articling at Soloways was a great experience. No matter how you cut it, articling is a challenge and the learning curve is steep. I was very fortunate to have been able to access and benefit from the support of some of the best legal minds in Ottawa, not to mention access to a very experienced and welcoming support staff.
Having had the opportunity to observe and assist more senior counsel, and having their support and counsel on my own files was invaluable in helping me make the transition from student to lawyer. As a young lawyer, I continue to draw on these resources to enhance my professional development. |

My first experience in the legal profession began when I joined Soloway Wright as an articling student in 2000. I was initially drawn to Soloway Wright's exceptional reputation and the diverse practice areas of its lawyers. After meeting some of the lawyers during the articling interview process I knew that I wanted to work at Soloway Wright.

As an articling student, I was entrusted with an enormous amount of responsibility and autonomy in terms of legal work, file management and client interaction. I was by no means limited to merely research and memo writing. The work given to me was very diverse in nature and I was given the opportunity to work on several major files as well as several of my own. I was very impressed with the amount of confidence the lawyers and staff have in students. In addition, with the responsibility that was given to me, I was thankful to have access to every helpful resource available to help guide and facilitate my work. The Firm definitely has an open door policy where lawyers and staff can be approached at any time for assistance with a legal or professional problem. I was so impressed with my articling experience that I decided to continue in private practice and have remained at Soloway Wright ever since.

My articling experience at Soloway, Wright was certainly a diverse, exciting and rewarding one. The highlights of my articles included acting as junior "counsel" on a month long trial, co-authoring papers, working closely with senior lawyers and maintaining decision making responsibility on a variety of files. Working with all the lawyers in the firm and balancing priorities allowed me to gain from their different style of work habits and from the diversity in issues they dealt with. Without a doubt, the quality of work at Soloway, Wright was noteworthy.

Other than the quality of work, Soloway, Wright made me feel like I was part of the "team", notwithstanding that I was a student. I developed relationships with both the lawyers and the administrative staff. Also, I enjoyed participating in the many social events being held almost on a monthly basis.

| I learned a lot at Soloway, Wright and I would recommend articling at the firm to any student looking for exposure in many areas of the law. |
