Doug practices real estate, municipal, expropriation, planning, and development law. He regularly appears before municipal committees, councils, and tribunals, and has also appeared before the Ontario Courts for municipal, planning and expropriation matters. Previously, Doug worked as Solicitor for both the City of Ottawa and the Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton providing advice in real estate, planning, and development law.

Doug was educated at Carleton University, where he received a Bachelors degree in History & Political Science, and the University of Ottawa where he completed his LLB. He was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1971 and joined Soloway, Wright in 1984.
Doug has lectured for the Canadian Bar Association with respect to development matters, is a member of the Ottawa-Carleton Home Builders' Association and serves on its Builder-Developer Council. He is Co-Chair of the Government Affairs Committee for BOMA. At present, Doug is the President of the Ottawa Chapter of Lambda Alpha International, an honorary land economics society, and is a member of the County of Carleton Law Association.
